Sara McKenna
Principal
Mrs. McKee has served her entire teaching career in the Cotati-Rohnert Park Unified School District. Sara's focus is on student achievement. She has served in a leadership capacity as the district has transitioned to the Common Core, and Next Generation Science Standards.
Her first teaching assignment was at La Fiesta Elementary School where she taught kindergarten and first grade for four years, spent one year at Thomas Page Elementary School and one year as the English Language Development and Title I coordinator at Mountain Shadows Middle School. She then went on to teach first and second grade at John Reed Elementary School. Two years ago she was appointed as the Assistant Principal at John Reed Elementary School and Waldo Rohnert Intermediate School. For the past few months, Mrs. McKee has joined the administrative team at Technology Middle School as an Assistant Principal. She has successfully worked with staff and parents throughout her career to build a strong community and positive school culture that welcomes persity and values hands-on experiential learning. Sara is committed to continue to lead Technology Middle School toward the goal of becoming a 21st Century Project Based Learning school.
Sara moved to Rohnert Park in 1996. She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in American Multicultural Studies at Sonoma State University and then went on to earn a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Azusa Pacific University. Sara's family and extended family is active in the community and her children attend Cotati-Rohnert Park Schools.
Cotati-Rohnert Park Unified School District is the third largest in Sonoma County with about 6,000 students in grades K-12. Technology Middle School opened in August of 2013 on the former Mountain Shadows Campus. It is home to 500 students and the school is developing its approach to project based learning and to the use of technology to support student learning.
